Location and access
The Riviera Maya, located on the Caribbean Sea in the state of Quintana Roo in Mexico, has its principal point of entrance at Cancun International Airport, with connections to numerous cities in the United States, Canada, South America and Europe. It is a two-hour flight from Mexico City.
The official currency is the Mexican peso. A Mexican peso is worth approximately 0.05 US dollars and 0.06 euros (this may vary).
The official language of Mexico is Spanish, but there are sixty-nine languages and indigenous linguistic groups spoken in Mexico, each with their own dialects, making the country one of those with the greatest linguistic diversity in the world.
The Riviera Maya has a subtropical climate with hot and humid days during most of the year and an average temperature of 26°C. The summer season, from June to August, is characterized by high temperatures that may reach up to 35°C. In winter, from November to December, the days are cooler with average temperature of around 20°C.
